What will change

  • Stage 1 — Support: wrists and shoulder blades ready to carry your body weight

  • Stage 2 — Weight over hands: shoulders move in front of the hands, feet go up on a step

  • Stage 3 — The wall: you kick up into a chest-to-wall handstand and hold 20–30 seconds

  • Stage 4 — The line: you straighten your body and start taking your toes off the wall

This course is for you if

  • You took the “Are You Ready for a Handstand?” test and want a clear next step
  • A handstand has been on your list for ages, but you don’t know where to start
  • You want a progression with milestones, not random videos
  • You have 20 minutes twice a week and a free piece of wall

This course is not for you if

  • Your wrists, elbows or shoulders hurt right now or were recently injured
  • High blood pressure, glaucoma or other conditions where being upside down needs a doctor’s approval
  • You can already hold a wall handstand for a minute and want to go freestanding — that’s the next stage
  • You expect a freestanding handstand in six weeks: it usually takes 6–12 months of practice

Who made this course

Symon spent years on stage as a Cirque du Soleil artist, in a job where the body is the instrument and the next show is always tomorrow. Nobody there asks whether you feel like training: you keep the instrument in working order, every single day, or you do not perform.

That daily maintenance — ten to fifteen focused minutes, done whether or not it is convenient — is the only thing he found that survives contact with a real schedule. It is also the thing almost nobody outside professional performance is ever taught.
